Tukwila’s Fixers — Free Repair Event
July 12 at 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Got a busted blender? A torn sweater? A lamp that’s more moody than moody lighting? Or maybe a vacuum that just plain sucks (or… doesn’t)? Bring it on down to the FREE King County Community Repair Event at the Tukwila Community Center and let their talented team of volunteer fixers work their magic! Whether it’s small appliances, electronics, toys, vacuums, jewelry, clothing, or even wobbly chairs—they’ll give it their best shot to extend its life, keep it out of a landfill, and save you some money.
How it works:
It’s first-come, first-served—one item per person to start. Got a second item? We’ll try to get to it after everyone’s first fix is handled. No sign-ups this time, just show up and get in line!
A few things we don’t fix:
-
- Cell phones or tablets
- Microwaves
- Gas-powered gear
- Knives/tools that need sharpening
- Major clothing alterations or complex reconstructions
Fixers may decline to work on any item – in advance or at the event – depending on the item, the type of repair needed, the fixers available, or for other reasons.
Wondering if your item is a good fit? Drop a question on this Facebook event or contact Tom, the event coordinator, at tom.watson@kingcounty.gov or 206-477-4481. You can also check out www.KingCounty.gov/ecoconsumer for more info, including a list of local repair businesses.
We love a good fixer-upper moment, and we’d love to help give your beloved but broken items a second life.
Let’s make it a fun day of fixing, mending, and saving stuff from the landfill.
