Join EarthCorps at Tukwila Park to help remove non-native plants like English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry. Did you know Tukwila Park is the oldest of our parks, built in 1934? The park itself is covered with mature vegetation, which includes large firs and a variety of Rhododendrons. At this volunteer event, they’ll be focusing on improving the forests and parks of our local city by removing weeds and maintaining areas by spreading mulch
Registration is required. EarthCorps supplies gloves, tools, water, and snack bars. They will teach you everything you need to know! No experience necessary, just come ready to learn something new! Be sure to sign in at registration when you arrive.
Join Green Tukwila to kick off the fall season at Duwamish Hill Preserve, as they clear blackberries and make room for the planting season. The unique ecosystems at the Duwamish Hill Preserve highlight oak savannahs, camas prairie, wet sedge meadow, and the tule wetland. Did you know that the hill itself is a geological wonder and is older than Mt. Rainier? All ages are welcome, but children 14 and under must be accompanied at all times. Bring a full water bottle, snacks, gardening gloves if you have them, and closed-toe shoes. You’ll want to wear clothes to cover your arms and legs as well, since blackberries can be scratchy. Join Green Tukwila for some Riverside Restoration off the Green River Trail on September 9th. Invasive plants such as Himalayan Blackberry, ivy, and Bindweed are hindering young native trees and understory plants from growing. You’ll be helping to remove the invasive plants, allowing our native trees and shrubs to flourish. All ages are welcome, but children 14 and under must be accompanied at all times. This August, the City of Tukwila is bringing the big screen outdoors! On Friday, August 21st, enjoy an outdoor viewing lounge with a giant inflatable movie screen playing Zootopia 2, comfortable lounge seating, and delicious eats from MoMo’s Mediterranean Food Truck. Grab your friends and family and get ready for unforgettable Friday nights under the stars.
Shop for a good cause! Join Tukwila Historical Society at their Parking Lot Sale on August 22, 2026 from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. With home goods, furniture, clothes, and more, there will be great finds for everyone. All proceeds support the Tukwila Historical Society and their community programs.
The City of Tukwila’s Touch-A-Truck is back! Don’t miss the event at Westfield Southcenter Mall on Saturday, August 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located at the south parking lot between the parking garages, the whole family will get to see and experience vehicles from the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Tukwila Policy Department, Tukwila Public Works, and more.
Please note that the first hour of the event is a Quiet Hour for attendees with hearing sensitivities.
When the world’s game came to the Seattle region this summer, the City of Tukwila wanted to create more than just a place to watch the matches. We wanted to create a place where people could gather, celebrate, and experience the soccer excitement together.
Thanks to an incredible group of partners and supporters, that vision became a reality: The Tukwila United Viewing Lounge.
Located inside the former Sears building at Westfield Southcenter, the Tukwila United Viewing Lounge transformed an empty space into a vibrant community destination throughout the tournament. The lounge featured three large viewing screens with both English and Spanish broadcasts, making sure that everyone could enjoy the match in their own way. Kids and families were able to enjoy an indoor soccer mini-field playspace, visitors participated in the Passport Program for a chance to win exclusive Experience Tukwila swag, and fans from around the region cheered on the world’s biggest sporting event.
Open every day throughout the tournament, the Viewing Lounge welcomed tens of thousands of visitors from across the region.
