Ethiopian favorites like beef tibs, lentils, vegetables, and fresh injera are great for sharing with friends or family while taking in the scenery. Best part? One of our personal favorites, the Tukwila Community Center offers so much to locals in our city. With nearby walking paths, open green space, and tons of community events throughout the season, it’s easy to spend an afternoon here relaxing outdoors.
Not far away, Astur Restaurant offers authentic East African and Somali-inspired cuisine. Pick up savory rice dishes, flavorful goat or chicken entrees, and some sambuus. With options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can experience these far-away flavors any time of the day.

Fall is planting season, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by joining Tukwila Parks and the Green Tukwila Partnership for Green Tukwila Day. This year’s event focuses on planting camas, a culturally significant plant of the Salish people that honors Indigenous traditions while helping restore native habitat across our community.
Spend the morning outdoors with neighbors, enjoy live music by The Buskings, and get your hands in the soil as you help prepare the land for winter. All ages are welcome, and everything you need—tools, snacks, and plenty of good energy—will be provided. Come be part of the movement to keep Tukwila green and growing.

Tukwila’s own effort, the Green Tukwila Partnership, is supported by Forterra, EarthCorps, Duwamish Alive Coalition, Partner in Employment, the Service Board, Dirt Corps, King County Parks, and dedicated volunteers.

Tukwila’s favorite fall tradition is back! Join us at the Tukwila Community Center for a Halloween Carnival packed with festive fun for the whole family.
Wander through the spooky haunted walk, paint your perfect pumpkin, and try your hand at classic carnival games. Snap a costume photo at the themed booth, enjoy live music, and let the little ones play safely in the toddler room.
The evening also features live music to set the mood, plus s’mores making and a local food truck serving up delicious bites to keep everyone fueled for the festivities.

Bats, aka “Sky Puppies,” are our amazing nighttime neighbors. Come to this event and learn why! The Woodland Park Zoo and Bats Northwest will lead a lively free workshop where you’ll learn about our local bat species, discover fun facts, and find your BFF (Bat Friend Forever!) through a fun, fast-paced, speed-dating model.
You won’t just learn about bats, but you will also find ways to make a difference in the lives of these magnificent mammals. (No live bats will be present at this event.)
We’re lighting up the night in honor of Foster Golf Links’ Centennial Year—join us for a one-of-a-kind Glow Ball event under the stars!
On Friday, May 30th, experience the thrill of nighttime golf as you play with glow-in-the-dark balls and gear that make the entire course come alive after sunset. The fun begins with a Shotgun Start at 9:15 p.m., where all teams of two tee off at the same time from different holes.
