4th of July Pickleball Celebration

Say ‘Happy Birthday’ to America this Fourth of July with everyone’s favorite new American pastime—pickleball!

Tukwila Parks & Recreation is hosting a Fourth of July celebration with a day filled with pickleball skills camps, games, scrambles, and more festivities starting at 9 AM.

Fun fact: the first-ever pickleball tournament happened in Tukwila at the Southcenter Athletic Club!

Every skill level is welcome. So grab your red, white, and blue paddle and take to the courts.

Summer Starts in Tukwila

Summer vacation is just around the corner and Tukwila is kicking things off with a day filled with sunshine (hopefully!) and fun for all the bright young minds wrapping up another school year.

Middle schoolers and high schoolers, make your way to the Foster High School Football Field on June 18th from noon to 2 PM to join the party.

There will be a live DJ and a variety of summer games and activities.

Earth Month: Guided Tree Walk with Maya Klem

Busy on these days but still want to learn more about Tukwila’s trees? Take a self-guided tree walk in Duwamish Hill Preserve, Riverton Park, and Crestview Park. Each location will have signs identifying native trees and explaining why trees are essential to the region. By the end of the tree walk, you will know about Western Red Cedars, Dogwoods, Bigleaf Maples, and so much more.

Or you can join King Conservation District Urban Forestry Coordinator, Maya Klem, for a couple of educational tree walks around Crestview Park and Duwamish Hill Preserve.

This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the amazing diversity of our forests and why it is so important to protect our native flora and fauna. Plus, you’ll gain some handy tree knowledge for your next trivia night!

Thursday, Crestview Park, April 11th, 10:00-11:30 a.m.

Saturday, Duwamish Hill Preserve, April 27th, 10:00-11:30 p.m.
